The authors of two books examining how political conflict impacts individuals are winners of awards from a Dayton group that celebrates the power of literature to foster peace, social justice and global understanding. Patricia Engle is the winner of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize for fiction. Her book entitled "The Veins of the Ocean" is the story of a Cuban-American woman fighting to support her brother while he remains on death row. David Wood won the non-fiction prize for his book entitled "What Have We Done", examining the experiences of American soldiers in 21st century wars. Each will be honored at a gala on November 5.
