Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says the state is home to 340 internet cafes. 18 are in Franklin County. Lorain County has 42, the highest number in the state. DeWine calls them illegal gambling operations. Cafe owners say they are lawful establishments and the state is trying to weed them out to lower competition with casinos and the lottery. Earlier this year, the legislature passed a law requiring the cafes to register with the Attorney General’s office.
