Alexandria Mayor Resigns

The mayor of the Licking County village of Alexandria resigned this week. Michael Miller served less than a year in office. He says the job was too stressful on him and his family. City Council President Andy Hallam is taking over. Council approved a no confidence resolution last month concerning Miller’s leadership. The village's former fiscal officer, Laura VanScoy Andrews, was fired earlier this year after being indicted on charges of theft in office, tampering with evidence and dereliction of duty. She is accused of stealing 80 thousand dollars from the village between December 2012 and August 2015. Caroline Gissinger is now the fiscal officer.
