Alleged Drug Grower Shot By Deputies

Ross County Sheriff's deputies shot and wounded a man on Thursday during a barricade situation that they say started when state investigators spotted marijuana growing on his property. 59-year-old David Rutter was treated at a Columbus hospital for a non-life-threatening wound. Deputies say an Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation helicopter spotted marijuana plants growing at the property in the 500 block of Chester Hill Road. Deputies say Rutter opened fire first.
