Alleged Triple Murderer Seeks To Avoid Death Penalty

The defense for a Cleveland man charged with killing three women will have extensive files to argue against the death penalty. 35-year-old Michael Madison appeared in court Monday during a discussion of his police, school and social-service records the defense requested. Attorney David Grant says the records will be used for a presentation before a prosecution committee reviewing possible death penalty cases. Madison pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and kidnapping charges after three bodies were found in July in an East Cleveland neighborhood.
