Annual Conference Emphasizes Advocacy For Ohio Crime Victims

An annual Ohio crime victims' rights conference is focusing on issues faced by a variety of individuals, from people with disabilities to the homeless.

More than a thousand people who provide services to crime victims are expected at the "Advancing Advocacy to Service All Victims" conference Monday in Columbus. Workshops will also examine problems experienced by trafficking victims, elderly victims and victims suffering from mental illness. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine planned to give opening remarks to attendees, who include victim advocates, prosecutors, social workers, counselors, and medical professionals. The two-day conference is one of the biggest of its kind nationally.
