Triple-A is predicting nearly 47 million Americans, including two million Ohioans, will travel 50 or more miles from home over the Independence Day holiday.
That's up by more than five percent over last year. Spokesperson Mark Jenkins says most will travel by car, despite the highest gas prices in the last several years.
Jenkins says the travel increase is due to greater consumer confidence in the economy and Americans having more disposable income. It's also due to the holiday period being a day longer this year.
