Another School District Reports Problems With First Student

Vandalia-Butler City Schools officials say they'll remedy ongoing problems with a private bussing contractor, even if it means the district will resume providing its own transportation for students. The school board has given the superintendent the power to cancel the district's contract with Cincinnati-based First Student after three bus crashes in August.  First Student officials say they fired at least one driver. First Student has been a problem for other districts, including Columbus. In Cincinnati earlier this month, some students said they had to wait several hours for a First Student bus to pick them up. The company blamed a shortage of drivers.
