The Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati has ruled in favor of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and several deputies who were sued by the estate of a man found dead in the county jail in 2011. The estate of 48-year-old Edward Peterson said the plaintiffs were negligent in providing medical care prior to his death from a pre-existing heart condition. An internal investigation recommended discipline for 52 deputies and supervisors. Two deputies received letters of reprimand.
