A ballot issue targeting a tax hike in Westerville is being challenged.
Attorney Gene Hollings is asking the Franklin County Board of Elections to pull the repeal issue off the November ballot, claiming it's based on a misinterpreted state law. A group of residents petitioned to roll back most of the 11.4-mill operating levy approved for Westerville Schools in 2009. Hollins says the law cited in the repeal applies only to tax increases. Supporters of the repeal are confident the measure will be upheld at an elections board hearing next week.
