Audit Says Brice Failed To Maintain Speeding Ticket Records

The state auditor's office says the western Franklin County Village of Brice failed to maintain records of speeding tickets given to motorists. The audit shows the village reported collecting 171 thousand dollars in speeding fines last year,  73 percent of its general fund. The audit shows police chief Bud Bauchmoyer failed to keep a record of which speed camera images he approved for use in citations and collections, making it impossible for the state to verify accuracy. The audit does not recommend criminal charges. The village says officials will work to establish better controls.
