August Existing Home Sales Figures Down From July

Existing home sales on the local, state and national levels declined in August as compared with July. More than 25 hundred existing homes were sold last month in the Columbus Realtors' multi-county region, down from more than 27 hundred sold in July. The Ohio Association of Realtors says statewide sales fell by 8 percent in August. The National Association of Realtors says sales fell 1.8 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.05 million. August sales are down from a July rate of 5.14 million, a figure that was revised slightly downward. NAR says much of the slowdown came from the exodus of investors, who had been buying properties in the aftermath of the housing bust and recession. The average sale price of a central Ohio home in August was nearly 195 thousand dollars, down by four thousand from July.
