BCI To Investigate Inmate Death At Knox County Jail

knoxcountysheriff.com

The state is investigating the death of a man who died two days after a scuffle with a deputy at the Knox County jail.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office requested the review by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation following the April 23 death of David Dehmann of Mount Vernon.  The sheriff's department says Dehmann was brought into the county jail in Mount Vernon on April 21 on a disorderly conduct charge and became aggressive in the intake area.  A sheriff's report says the 34-year-old Dehmann was wrestled to the ground after he tried to hit a deputy in the face.  The report says Dehman was taken to a local hospital after hitting his head on the floor. The state says Dehmann was transferred to a Columbus hospital where he died.
