Bogus Time Cards Cost City Official His Job

City of Columbus

The City of Columbus has fired the Parking Violations Bureau administrator for falsified time cards. An internal investigation found Mike Mercurio failed to stop an employee from claiming thousands of dollars in overtime she may not have earned. City officials say Mercurio's lack of oversight cost taxpayers more than 83 thousand dollars over a period of four years.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
