Columbus, OH – An estimated 100-million Americans will watch Sunday's Super Bowl between Pittsburgh and Green Bay. It's likely many don't know a Columbus man played a critical role in the growth of the National Football League. Historians credit Joe Carr with guiding pro football from its eratic infancy into a stable, popular sport. Carr's life story and his days as NFL president are told in a book by author and Columbus native Chris Willis, who works for NFL Films. The book is called "The Man Who Built The National Football League: Joe F. Carr." Willis says Carr ran the league from an office inside the building at 16 East Broad Street, which is expected to reopen as a hotel next year. There's even been talk about an NFL theme on the 11th floor to recognize Carr's work. Willis tells Mike Foley why Carr should be referred to as the man who built the league.
