Boxer 'Dynamite' Dokes Dead at 54

Michael Dokes, a former heavyweight boxing champion from Northwest Ohio, has died.

Dokes died at the age of 54.  Known as "Dynamite", Dokes became the World Boxing Associate heavyweight champion in 1982.  He tallied 53 wins, six losses and two draws during his career.  the Akron Beacon Journal reported Dokes died at an Akron hospice from liver cancer.  Russell Dossie, former vice president of the summitt County Hall of Fame Boxing Association, told the newspaper that Dokes was known for his speed and endurance.
