A 5-year-old boy pulled from an icy pond last week in Columbus has died. Police say Elijah Walker died at Nationwide Children's Hospital yesterday afternoon. Authorities say the boy fell through the ice of a pond at an apartment complex on the city's southeast side Thursday night. Before rescuers arrived, 30-year-old neighbor James Jenkins went into the water to try to save the child. Police say bystanders then tried to rescue the pair, but they both went underwater. Several minutes later, crews arrived and pulled them from the pond. Jenkins died later that night.
