Columbus, OH – As members of congress and the Obama administration hammer out a stimulus package, philanthropic organizations in Ohio and Pennsylvania hope some of that funding reaches non-profit groups. A recent report chronicles the conditions in Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The two-month study involved five community organizations - including the Columbus Foundation. The groups are requesting more than $3 billion in funding over the next two years to help non-profits in both states meet rising demand for basic needs like food, housing, utilities and transportation. Columbus Foundation President and CEO Doug Kridler tells Mike Foley non-profits didn't create the economic crisis, but they're on the front lines helping those most affected by it.
