CBJ sign Foligno; Indians to honor Doby tonight

The Columbus Blue Jackets say they have signed left winger Nick Foligno to a three year, 9.5 million dollar contract.

The 24-year-old was acquired in a trade with Ottawa on July 1st for defenseman Marc Methot. And the Cleveland Indians today are commemorating the 65th anniversary of Larry Doby breaking the American League's color barrier by re-naming a street in honor of the Hall of Famer. Signs on Larry Doby Way next to the team's ballpark will be unveiled following tonight's game. Members of Doby's family will be on hand. The six time All-Star helped lead the Indians to their last World Series title, in 1948. He died in 2003 at the age of 79.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
