Charges Filed In Hilltop Shooting

Columbus police have filed charges against a man who was shot after he allegedly robbed a father on the Hilltop last week.

43-year-old James Thompson is charged with attempting to rob 34-year-old Kelby Smith on Crescent Drive. Smith told police he shot and wounded Thompson in order to protect the 2-month-old son he was with. Thompson remains in a local hospital.
