Chillicothe Police Chief Suspended

Chillicothe Police Department

The law director in Chillicothe says Police Chief Roger Moore has been suspended, but is not saying why. Law Director Sherri Rutherford says the suspension involves a personnel issue, but she is not releasing any more details. Captain Keith Washburn has been appointed acting chief. Rutherford notes Moore was captured on video yelling and threatening another man outside a Chillicothe bar in March 2013. Later that year, she says Moore was involved in an incident with the city’'s Equal Employment Opportunity director. Rutherford says the police department is also under federal investigation following an April 19 incident when a man was hospitalized after he was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge. Security footage later showed the man was forced to the ground during his jail booking, but an internal investigation cleared the officer involved of any criminal charges. Moore has been the chief since 2009.
