Cincinnati Police Strategy To Combat Violent Crime Similar To Plan Used In Columbus

Cincinnati police will be using data on past crimes to help reduce violence. Police Chief Eliot Isaac says a plan called the PIVOT strategy identifies locations where violence most often occurs, and deploys officers to those spots to disrupt criminal activities. Isaac is urging people in those areas to share what they know with police.  The department's annual crime report shows large increases in murders and non-fatal shootings in 2015, nearly wiping out a decrease in other violent crimes.   The PIVOT strategy mirrors the one used in Columbus over the last few years.
