City Council Settles Police-Related Lawsuit, Approves Four Tax Breaks

Columbus City Council last night approved spending 150 thousand dollars to settle a lawsuit filed by a woman who was accidentally shot by police officers in the Arena District in July of 2012. Heather Seavolt was hit by a ricochet when officers fired on an intoxicated man who was attempting to leave a parking lot near Front and Vine Streets. City attorney Rick Pfeiffer says Seavolt's medical bills exceeded 60 thousand dollars.

Columbus Development Director Steve Schoeny says council also approved tax breaks for four profitable companies.
