City Files Complaint Against Owners Of Closed Motel

Columbus city prosecutors have filed a contempt of court complaint against the owners of a closed North Side motel. The property is owned by Akron-based Sunstar Columbus. Prosecutors say there have been several break-ins at the Red Carpet Inn site on Dublin Granville Road. They also say several inspections conducted after the courts ordered the facility closed in May of last year show buildings remain unsecured. Police say the motel was a magnet for criminal activity prior to its closure, including murder, drugs and prostitution.
