Clerk Of Courts Freed On Bond Amid Theft In Office Charge

Fairfield County's Clerk of Courts and her husband are free on bond after appearing in court yesterday. Republican Deborah Smalley is charged with theft in office for allegedly making employees campaign for her on county time. Dave Smalley is accused of helping his wife. The Smalleys are free on 15 hundred dollars bond each, and were charged after Republican State Auditor David Yost uncovered the alleged crimes. The county Republican Party has called on Deborah Smalley to resign.
