Cleveland Cops Sue City Over Fatal 2012 Officer-Involved Shooting

huffingtonpost.com

Nine Cleveland police officers involved in the fatal 2012 police shooting that killed two unarmed African-Americans are suing the city, alleging the police department engaged in racial discrimination. The lawsuit by eight white officers and one Hispanic officer says the department treats non-black officers involved in shootings of blacks more harshly than black officers. Thirteen officers fired more than 100 shots at the vehicle, killing Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams. The officers who fired were put on administrative leave and on periods of restricted duty.
