Cleveland Firm Ordered To Pay For Removal Of Lead-Based Paint

A California judge has ordered Cleveland-based Sherwin Williams and two other paint companies to pay 10 California cities and counties 1.1 billion dollars to remove lead-based paint from millions of older homes. The judge says the companies marketed lead-based paint they knew was harmful to children. An appeal is expected. Lead-based paints were barred from the U.S. market in 1978, but millions of homes painted before then still pose a health risk.
