Cleveland Hospital Denies Liability For Loss Of Frozen Eggs And Embryos

cleveland.com

Officials at University Hospitals in Cleveland say patients at their fertility clinic knew they could lose their frozen eggs and embryos.

In a court filing, attorneys for UH say patient consent forms indicated the risks of freezing eggs and embryos. Attorney Tom Merriman represents 905 families who lost 4 thousand frozen eggs and embryos in a storage tank malfunction earlier this year. He says the hospital is going back on its public apologies for the malfunction as it faces a large civil lawsuit.

Merriman says the tank had a severe temperature spike, and a remote alarm was shut off. UH has yet to comment.
