Columbus To Build Fourth Water Treatment Plant

schoorarchitects.com

The City of Columbus is purchasing three properties on Home and Dublin roads to build a new water treatment plant. The properties, which total 120 acres and cost 5.65 million dollars, are the site of the former Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility. Columbus Utilities Director Greg Davies says the city's fourth plant will get water from a reservoir that opened in Delaware County last year and holds 9 billion gallons.

The properties are among 19 lawmakers approved selling last year. Delaware County officials say they will lose land that could be developed for commercial use. The land purchase was approved by Columbus City Council at its June 8 meeting.
