A Columbus charter school is closing today amid problems with its finances. Barnett Academy will shut down after its founder says the school was unable to meet payroll or pay its school lunch provider. The founder says the financial problems were caused by lower-than-expected enrollment. Some teachers walked off the job earlier this month when they were not paid. The school's sponsor, North Central Ohio Educational Services Center, is the same organization that sponsored the two Columbus charter schools that were ordered closed last month amid conditions the state says were poor and put student safety at risk.
