Columbus Crew Hires New Head Coach

The Columbus Crew has hired former U.S. men's national team and Major League Soccer player Gregg Berhalter as the team's seventh head coach.

He succeeds interim coach Brian Bliss.

Berhalter will also oversee all player personnel decisions for the Crew.

Berhalter became the first American to manage a European professional team when he was hired by Sweden's Hammarby club in 2011. He had an 18-year run as a player, including stays in the Netherlands, England and Germany as well as M-L-S.
