Columbus, Franklin Township Reach Compromise

The City of Columbus and a neighboring township have reached a deal on splitting the income taxes generated by the casino. The agreement ends a four-year dispute between Columbus and Franklin Township. The casino sits on land that the city annexed from the township. Columbus will receive most of the estimated $4.6 million in annual income taxes while Franklin Township will get about $750,000 each year for the next 50 years. The city and township also agreed to share the tax revenue from businesses in a economic-development district around the casino.
