Columbus fire officials have ruled Friday morning's fatal fire accidental.
Crews responding to the fire in the 14 hundred block of Republic avenue say the home was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene. The 57-year-old male victim's name has been withheld as officials try to reach his family. Authorities say it appears he tried to put the fire out. Investigators say the fire started in an upstairs bedroom and was caused by electric current running through a pinched extension cord under the bed.
