Columbus Library To End Daily Fines

Aug 31, 2012

The Columbus Metropolitan Library board has voted to eliminate daily fines for overdue books.

Library officials say they'll replace the daily fine with a one-time five-dollar fee for each overdue item. The changes will take effect by the end of next year, in an effort to allow more patrons to use the library, while encouraging them to return materials. 206-thousand cardholders currently cannot use the library because their fines exceed 10 dollars.
