Columbus Officer Injured By Fleeing Suspect

A Columbus police officer is recovering from injuries sustained last night in an incident on the south side.

Investigators say the officer tried to pull over the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle on Champion Avenue. The suspect then hit the officer and fled, striking two police cruisers during a chase before crashing into a tree. The officer is hospitalized and the suspect is in custody. Further details have yet to be released.
