A central Ohio community college says it will offer short-term courses for underemployed and displaced workers focused on logistics, transportation and customer service.
Columbus State Community College was awarded a $1.4 million federal grant to develop the courses to help put workers back on the job and prepare others for career advancement. The school says its Logistics and Supply Chain Department received the award money, making it the only Ohio college participating in the U.S. Department of Labor grant. The college's eight-course program is designed to prepare workers for entry-level and mid-level jobs in logistics and supply chain management. Each course is available online. The school says the grant provides workers with the chance to be employed in an industry that has a shortage of skilled professionals.
