A Columbus Police SWAT oficer has died days after he was shot at a Clintonville apartment.
54-year-old Steven Smith died late Tuesday afternoon. Police say 44-year-old Lincoln Rutledge shot Smith and held police at bay for several hours on Sunday. Rutledge has been denied bond and remains jailed on charges including felonious assault. Police say Rutledge shot Smith from inside an apartment on West California Avenue in Clintonville as officers were attempting to arrest him on an arson charge. Police accuse Rutledge of setting fire to his girlfriend's home on Saturday.
