Convicted Local Attorney Takes Own Life

A former attorney who pleaded guilty to stealing from four of his wards and taxpayers while serving as a court-appointed guardian was found dead in his Upper Arlington home on Monday.The attorney for 65-year-old Paul Kormanik says he took his own life. Kormanik pleaded guilty in August to charges of stealing more than 40 thousand dollars from accounts of his wards after they had died. He also moved an additional 63 hundred dollars in life-insurance proceeds to his personal checking account. Kormanik was scheduled to be sentenced this month.
