Cop Suspended For Comment About Death Of Columbus Activist

whio.com

A white Fairborn police officer has been suspended for posting a controversial comment on social media earlier this week. Officer Lee Cyr was suspended after celebrating the suicide of a Black Lives Matter activist in Columbus, which internal affairs investigators say is an apparent violation of the department's social media policy. The comment posted on Cyr's Facebook page reads "Love a happy ending." The Ohio Highway Patrol says 23-year-old MarShawn McCarrell of Franklin Township shot and killed himself outside the South High Street entrance to the Statehouse late Monday. He had helped with protests held after high-profile police shootings led to the Black Lives Matter movement. Cyr has yet to comment.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
