Corruption Trial Of Athens County Sheriff Delayed

woub.org

A judge has delayed the corruption trial of Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly. Defense attorneys say they need more time to prepare their case. The trial has been moved from late September to late January of next year. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to 25 counts of improperly spending public money on meals and clothing, and spending the proceeds from the sale of county vehicles for scrap metal. The Ohio Attorney General's office has placed Kelly on paid leave, per state law.
