County Officials Blast Consultant's Report On Sheriff's Department

Franklin County officials say a report calling for dozens of new hires in the sheriff's department is at best incomplete.County budget staffers say the report fails to explain why 120 new deputies, jail guards and dispatchers are needed, at a cost of seven-to-ten-million-dollars. They say the money for those hires isn't in the budget. The study prepared by consultants was issued in December. Sheriff Zach Scott says the consultants were not asked to provide a detailed cost analysis.
