Court Rules Against ODNR In Age Discrimination Suit

Jan 17, 2013

The Ohio Court of Claims has awarded a former state employee more than 500-thousand dollars to settle his claim that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources discriminated against him by hiring someone 15 years younger.

The court says Richard Warden scored the highest of any applicant when applying for a full-time job estimating the cost of reclaiming forfeited coal mines. Warden had worked for the state for nearly 30 years and retired in 2006, then was rehired on a contract basis.
