Credit Union Sues Wendy's Over Data Breach

A credit union has filed a lawsuit against Dublin-based Wendy's over a data breach the hamburger chain reported in late January. Pennsylvania-based First Choice Federal Credit Union is seeking class-action status for its lawsuit alleging the breach lasted for almost five months, which could cost financial firms millions of dollars. The union bases its allegation on information from the Visa credit card company. Wendy's has declined comment. The lawsuit seeks restitution, based on claims that financial institutions have canceled and reissued credit cards, closed accounts, refunded fraudulent charges and invested in fraud-monitoring programs.
