The Columbus Crew has fired Robert Warzycha after five years as head coach.
General Manager Mark McCullers made the announcement on Monday.
The Crew is in eighth place in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference, eight points out of the fifth and final playoff spot with eight games remaining. McCullers says he does not solely blame Warzycha for the team's poor performance this season.
Technical Director and former Crew defender Brian Bliss will take over on an interim basis. He says he wants the job.
Under Warzycha, the Crew reached the 2010 U.S. Open Cup Final.
