Defendant In Veteran's Slaying Sentenced

Pickaway County Sheriff

A Pickaway County judge has sentenced a third defendant to life in prison in the March robbery and slaying of an 84-year-old Korean War veteran. Prosecutors say 20-year-old Kyle Robinson and the four other people charged in the fatal shooting of Thomas Whitson wanted to steal the victim's guns and sell them for drug money. Prosecutors say Robinson helped plan the murder but wasn't in the victim's house in Orient at the time. The victim's grandson and convicted triggerman, 30-year-old Shaun Lawson, was sentenced in August to life in prison. 17-year-old Jordan Legg was previously sentenced to life in prison, and 20-year-old Joshua Johnson is serving seven years. 17-year-old Jesse Akers goes on trial in November.
