Democrats Seek to Compete for Republican Voters in Ohio

By Jim Letizia

Columbus, OH – National Democrats are looking for votes in Republican strongholds, such as Ohio's fastest growing area, Delaware County. Democrats say they want to peel voters away from Republican rivals. Democrats will try to avoid blowout races and pick up local seats and help Senator Barack Obama win the White House.

National Republicans say voters are going to reject Obama's 50 state strategy and will pick candidates based on issues. Democrats insist they need to build the party everywhere, especially in the suburbs, and compete for voters. Democrats say they don't want to write off areas completely just because they're not winning right now.
