Dems Trying To Get House Vote On Medicaid Expansion

Democratic state lawmakers plan to use a legislative maneuver to try to call a vote on a bill to expand Medicaid. The bill from Republican State Representative Barbara Sears would extend the program to cover thousands more low-income Ohioans. Democrats began collecting the 50 signatures needed to pull the bill todayIf successful, the rarely-used move would avert committee action and send the bill to the House floor. The bill's chances were uncertain since lawmakers have to wait at least one legislative day before it could be considered, but today is the Legislature's last scheduled session day before the summer recess.
