DeWine Has Edge Over Taylor In Gubernatorial Fundraising

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor each spent nearly 5 million dollars against the other in their fight for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. 

Campaign finance reports filed Thursday show DeWine spent 4.89 million dollars from December 8 to April 18, compared to Taylor's 4.93 million. DeWine reported raising 1.7 million and having 7.4 million in the bank. Taylor raised 420 thousand dollars for the period. Former consumer watchdog Richard Cordray led fundraising among Democrats. Cordray reported raising about 1.4 million and spending 1.7 million. Democratic rival DennisKucinich  raised almost 600 thousand and spent 317 thousand. Another Democrat, Joe Schiavoni, reported raising 87 thousand and spending 290 thousand. Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice William O'Neill, another Democratic candidate, raised 68 thousand and spent 79 thousand dollars.
