Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says scammers often pretend to be associated with the government to make their ploys seem real. He says Ohioans should guard personal information and never pay upfront fees. DeWine also cautions them to get information from reliable sources and watch out for phony websites. Open enrollment for the federally-run health insurance exchange in Ohio runs through next March. Coverage begins in January for those who select a plan by December 15. DeWine says reports of scams related to the Affordable Care Act initially surfaced in Ohio over the summer. He urges consumers to report scams or suspicious activity to his office and the Ohio Department of Insurance.
