Ashtabula County Sheriff's deputies say a requirement that people show identification when they buy an over-the-counter cold medication sparked a large raid of methamphetamine labs.
43 people were arrested Wednesday and meth labs were found in five homes. Pharmacies record and track buyers of cold medications containing pseudoephedrine, a key ingredient in meth. A database helped launched the nine-month investigation that culminated in Wednesday's raids.
